Tooth implants

A dental implant is simply a tiny “screw” made of a medical material that is compatible with human tissue – usually titanium. It is implanted in the place of previously lost teeth, where it replaces the natural roots of the teeth. The implant is the base to which, at a later stage, is attached individually designed prosthetic work – a crown, bridge or a larger reconstruction replacing a prosthesis. Such work remains stable in the mouth, is comfortable and looks like natural teeth.

The final reconstruction of a single tooth on an implant consists of several elements. We call an implant a “screw” part. A connector is mounted on this “screw”, to which the crown is then screwed or glued.

The basis for a good implant performance is its planning. For this, it is necessary to take a 3D photo of the lower part of the face, on the basis of which the length, diameter and axis of insertion of the implant are determined. We also often use 3D printed surgical templates that prevent errors in the insertion path.

The implant is placed in sterile conditions under strong local anesthesia. The patient does not feel any pain during the procedure. After the procedure is completed, a few stitches remain and are removed within 7-10 days.

Depending on individual conditions, prosthetic work can be placed directly on the day of the procedure or only after the implant has healed. This issue will be planned and discussed with the patient in advance.

Implants are the basis not only for the reconstruction of individual teeth, but also entire arches in patients who have lost all their teeth.
