My tooth hurts
Toothache is most often caused by a bacterial infection reaching the pulp of the tooth, i.e. the living tissue inside the tooth. In this case, root canal treatment is necessary.
We clean the tooth completely of caries, rebuild its walls so that it is possible to carry out treatment inside the canals, remove the diseased tissue and fill the resulting void with special materials. Infection may arise under an old filling, it may arise from untreated caries, or it may begin in a deep gingival pocket.

Not all toothache is caused by a pulp infection. The first symptoms may appear at the stage of caries formation. Conservative treatment is then sufficient.
Another reason for toothache may be caries, leaky filling requiring replacement, hypersensitivity, occlusal disorders – during the visit, the doctor considers all the possibilities and makes a diagnosis based on the clinical picture and symptoms reported by the patient.
