I don’t like wearing my dentures.

Does your denture fall off when you bite, food is getting underneath it? Is it discolored or worn? Or maybe you are bothered by the metal hooks on which it is held?

If there is any reason why you are giving up using your denture, see your doctor and have it fixed. Nowadays, there are solutions that can significantly improve your comfort of life, despite many years of using uncomfortable dentures.

Possible solutions to the problem:

All-on-four, All-on-six restorations – maximum comfort, the best aesthetics

The most convenient solution is to resign from a removable denture and place the restoration on implants. In the case of complete toothlessness, 4 (bottom) or 6 (top) implants are placed in a given dental arch, and then a ceramic restoration covering all the teeth in a given arch is embedded. Ceramic restorations perfectly reflect the natural appearance of the teeth and allow you to eat all foods. It is a convenient and very aesthetic solution for many years, which allows the patient to forget about missing teeth.

Overdenture type of prosthetic appliance

If you have your own teeth in the mouth, you can use them as additional “anchors” for the denture by installing special hooks in them. As a result, the prosthesis stays much better on the base. It is also possible to reduce the range of the prosthesis plate (i.e. the amount of acrylic that is in the mouth), which makes the prosthesis much more comfortable to use. It is a very good alternative to dentures holding on to metal hooks.

Skeletal prosthesis

The basic type of dental prostheses used in modern dentistry when the patient’s own teeth are left in the mouth. The difference between a skeletal denture and an acrylic denture “on the National Health Fund” is huge, and it mainly depends on the mechanism in which it rests in the oral cavity.
The skeletal denture transfers the chewing forces to the bone through the teeth. The metal base is cast especially to the shape of the patient’s teeth. It is constructed in such a way that its elements adhere exactly to the surface of the teeth, do not slide over it, and remain stable on it. The receptors around the root of the tooth receive information about the strength of the biting, which they transmit to the brain so that the process proceeds with natural intensity. The alveolar bone remains relatively constant and the remaining teeth do not loosen.
Partial acrylic denture, or “on the National Health Fund”, transfers the chewing forces through the gum, which does not have chewing force receptors. Constant pressure on the gum causes the alveolar bone to lower, which atrophies, causing the remaining teeth to loosen. Metal hooks are bent from a wire and do not stick tightly to the tooth, and they “spring” and move while eating, which causes damage to the enamel and promotes the formation of tooth decay. Performing such a supplement is not a mistake – in some way it leads to filling the gaps, but if we have other options to choose from – it is better use them instead.

Full acrylic denture

In complete toothlessness, the only alternative to dentures that remain on implants. Our dentures are made with the use of the highest quality impression materials, imitating the mucosa, for the best adhesion. Every few years, such a prosthesis should be relined.
